Trails
Trails are a way to organize various learning resources in a single location, allowing them to be grouped, ordered, and even sequenced. It’s possible to create different trails for specific target audiences, segment the trail content by stages, and even certify the student for completing a trail.
In this way, you can develop a personalized learning plan for your students, creating trails aimed at various purposes, such as training new employees, capacity building in specific areas, preparation for certifications, among others.
Trails provide agility to training and more autonomy to students, and the administrator can closely monitor the progress and performance of each user in the trails.
In Konviva, we offer three trail models: the development type trail (standard trail), the journey type trail, and the onboarding type trail. Each of them has a specific purpose, allowing the administrator to choose the model that best suits their needs.
The development trail is considered the platform’s standard trail. It is the trail automatically displayed when the trails module is activated. In it, it’s possible to add learning resources, completion deadlines, certificates, among others.
The onboarding trail is very similar to the development trail. Its main differential is the possibility of defining whether the trail’s start date will be the employee’s admission date instead of the student’s association date to the trail. Precisely for this reason, it is often used for training new employees.
The journey trail differs from the others, as its monitoring is based on the training hours completed by the student, while the progress of the development and onboarding trails is measured based on the number of completed contents.
To understand in detail about each trail model, how to enable and register them, consult the specific documentation for each one.
Reports
You can obtain data regarding trails and student progress in trails, both in the standard trail reports and in the custom trail reports and custom trail registration reports.
Trail visualization by the student
The trail listing provides the student with an overview of the trails to which they are linked. There are two main tabs: the My trailstab, which displays development and onboarding type trails, and the My journeystab, which lists journey type trails — if they are enabled on the platform.
In My trails, the student can use the buttons available at the top of the page to select whether they want to view all trails, only ongoing trails, or only approved trails. It’s also possible to use the search field to find the trail by name or code.
The trail visualization can be done in grid or list format, and the student can switch between them according to their preference. The trail listing provides information on the trail’s name, description, and image. It indicates whether the trail is mandatory or not, displays the trail type, the number of stages and registered contents. There is also an indication of the trail’s workload, which is the sum of the course workloads with the other learning resources present in the trail. For trails with configured deadlines, the completion deadline is displayed. If the student has already been approved on the trail, a label with the approved status is displayed next to the trail name.
Indicators in trails
Accessing a trail, below the name and description, there are indicators that help in perceiving the student’s progress. The progress percentage indicates how many stages have been completed in relation to the available stages. The performance percentage refers to the student’s performance in relation to the minimum content performance requirement. This means that if the required performance of all resources is 70%, and the student only achieved 35%, the performance indicator will mark 50% performance.
Finally, if the trail has a defined deadline, it will be displayed at the top. There, the student can see how many days are left until the expected final completion deadline or even how many days they are behind in relation to the expected deadline.
The indicators also feature color coding to facilitate status identification, according to the relationship below:
Colors | Performance | Remaining time |
|---|---|---|
Red | Below 50% of the performance necessary for student approval in the trail. | Less than 15% |
Yellow | Between 51% and 99% of the performance necessary for student approval in the trail. | 16% to 50% |
Green | 100% of the required performance for student approval in the trail. | Above 50% |
